A Call To Intimacy
Intimacy-intimate" means "to state or make known".
As a noun, an "intimate" is a person with whom we have a particularly close relationship.
As an adjective, "intimate" indicates detailed knowledge of a thing or person
Psalm 27:8-When thou said, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
The exhortation here is to seek. Seek is an action word. We must seek the face of God. Intimacy requires seek. Seek means to go after; to look for.
Psalm 27:4-One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.
27:4 Dwell - Have opportunity of constant attendance upon God. To behold - That there I may delight myself, in the contemplation of thy amiable and glorious majesty, and of thy infinite wisdom, holiness, justice, truth, and mercy.
The intimacy is in the seeking after God and what pleases him.
Matt. 5:6- (KJV) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
(GWT) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God's approval. they will be satisfied.
When we spend time with God we will know what’s on his heart. We are to seek to be in right standing with God. So many times we seek after the wrong things. We seek after the approval of man, we seek after fortunes, we seek after worldly attainments.
God desires for us to seek after him, seek after being in right standing with God. God will bless us with the things we need and even give us some of our hearts desire. We can trust God; He knows what we need and what’s best for us.
Matt. 6:33-(KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(GWT) But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you
Psalm 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
God is calling his people to intimacy with him. Get to know God, his ways, his character.
We need to spend quality time with God daily. If we don’t spend time with God and in his presence we will leave ourselves open to other voices. We must spend time with God and be trained by the Holy Spirit to know the voice of God. There are many voices in the land. If our relationship with God is not cultivated we could easily be fooled.
