Resent: to take offense, as at an insult.
Do you ever deal with feelings of resentment? Do you ever feel justified by your reason to harbor such feelings? Does any action of others make this feeling a “rightful” or justified feeling? Here is an example...Your identity is stolen, causing you much financial hardships, time and energy loss having to prove your innocents, facing public embarrassment. In a situation like this are you justified in feeling resentful towards the person that caused this suffering? Often we miss an opportunity to grow because we think we have a right to feel this way. But...do we? Regardless of the cause, isn't the problem the fact that you have this “feeling”? When we grow closer to God and allow His Spirit to work through us, we will then learn that no action of others should cause this reaction. The issue is not the person that stole your identity, but the fact that you have a feeling of resentment. And when we realize that truth, we are able to grow. What do you think? Is there ever a cause that justifies a negative feeling? Or...should we recognize this as an area to grow, regardless of what or who triggered it.
“Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” ~ Ephesians 4:26-27
